The Royal Opera House
The opera house is located in Shati Al-Qurm district of Muscat on Sultan Qaboos Street.
The Royal Opera House reflects unique contemporary Omani architecture, and has a capacity to accommodate maximum of 1,100 people. The opera house complex consists of a concert theatre, auditorium, formal landscaped gardens, cultural market with retail, luxury restaurants and an art centre for musical, theatrical and operatic productions.
In 2001, the Sultan ordered the building of an opera house. Initially called 'House of Musical Arts', the name 'Royal Opera House Muscat was finally chosen. The theater of the Royal Opera House Muscat features state of the art technology including configurable subtitles for operas displayed on individual touch screens in front of each seat.
The Royal Opera House follows a strict formal dress code for attending shows, no jeans, shirts, or tennis shoes are allowed.
